Are you looking for a night out with flavorful food, strong drinks, and good music? If you’re getting bored with your restaurant routines, I’ve found an awesome place for you here in Nashua that you’ve got to visit. On this episode of Coop Knows NH, we’re visiting newly opened Tostao’s Tapas-Bar to sample their authentic Spanish tapas menu and grab a refreshing drink. If the idea of snacking on delicious arepas and empanadas, sipping on Passion Fruit Margaritas and enjoying the relaxing ambiance of live musicians sounds like your kind of evening, then Tostao’s is the place for you!
In the short few months that this Spanish-style tapas bar has been opened, Tostao’s has earned its place among downtown Nashua’s restaurant scene. A dream of owner Jonathan Laureano and his wife Paula Norena’s for nearly 10 years, Tostao’s brings the Spanish tapas concept—small plates full of flavor—to a new level, inserting the Puerto Rican and Colombian influence of the couple’s upbringing for a unique twist.
While small in comparison to their drink menu (don’t worry—we’re getting to that!), the tapas menu includes classic small plates like calamari, Caesar salad, and chicken wings alongside uncommon specialties. One of Tostao’s most popular dishes is their signature Toastao’s Bruschetta, where the bread can be substituted with tostones (plantains) or arepas (Colombian corn cakes) and topped with savory beef, pork, shrimp or Buffalo chicken. Make sure you save room for dessert, too: a slice of homemade cheesecake topped with fresh berries is a customer favorite.
Tostao’s other claim to fame is their drinks, and you can feel the Latin influence in many of their signature cocktails. While New England may not hold the same climate as a Caribbean beach, you’ll feel like you’re in the tropics with one sip of a Watermelon Smash or Tropical Summer—two of Tostao’s delicious concoctions. A variety of other spirits, wines, and beers round out the selection.
Besides offering amazing food and great drinks, Tostao’s is known for its live music. Every other Thursday, you can hear relaxing Latin jazz played live in-house for the perfect ambiance to your experience. You’ll also find a colorful piano right outside, part of the Nashua Street Pianos project that brings music to the community. This has proved to be a huge draw, as many people with hidden talents have taken the opportunity to practice their craft on the keys.
With delicious food, great drinks, and good music, it’s clear that Tostao’s Tapas-Bar is a great addition to our community here in New Hampshire. Be sure to check out their Facebook page for the latest info, and head down to downtown Nashua for the best tapas and drinks around. Stay tuned for the next episode of Coop Knows NH to discover more of what our amazing area has to offer!
